Anthropic states research data stays the researcher's. Group size is 1–25 seats, with larger groups directed to contact Anthropic separately; annual billing is available at $0/$180 per seat.
The credit path beyond the plan
When a project needs more usage than the Standard or Premium plans provide, researchers can apply for additional credits through Anthropic's existing AI for Science grant program, which funds up to $50,000 in credits per project, per Anthropic's companion announcement. Anthropic states it has backed hundreds of projects through this program so far across institutions and scientific domains.
What Claude Science is
Anthropic describes Claude Science, included in both plan tiers, as a workbench that runs analyses, searches databases, and traces steps from data wrangling to publication. The product page lists specific example use cases by field: fusing and calibrating full-sky ultraviolet maps from multiple space telescopes in astrophysics; analyzing molecular datasets (scRNA, WGS, ATAC, MS-Spec) from raw feature counts to biologically resolved results in biology; running retrosynthesis on a drawn structure or SMILES string and evaluating routes for protecting-group strategy, selectivity, and step order in chemistry; rewriting and verifying fault-tolerant quantum circuits in quantum computing; running numerical experiments against theoretical predictions and generating publication-ready figures in statistics; and working backward from target material properties to candidate structures, validated with first-principles simulations, in materials science.
Scale of the initial offer
Anthropic states 10,000 scientists can get Claude at no cost to start under this program, and that it intends to extend the program beyond that initial number over the coming months.
